Viewing images on a remote console

Using a remote console to log on a linux environment, there usually is no graphical interface (hence why it is called remote command-line)

There are a few tools that can give you an idea what the image looks like, tools like caca-utils will render an image and return an array of ascii characters to your console.

This is a 800px image from the Mona Lisa painting displayed by cacaview:

As you can see it returns colored ascii characters. For a large image this could give you a good idea what it is, but for smaller imagesets it is not suited.

There is a much better tool for these small images such as icons or small images. called catimg
